I'm really sad...

I haven't worked out all week. Mostly because I was at a conference in Austin. Well, that's not actually true. I worked out on Tuesday in the hotel facility, but my shins were killing me after. THIS leads me to believe that I have stress fractures in my shins. I went to the clinic last weekend and Gunta, the German doctor at the clinic, said that I have at the VERY LEAST shin splints. I need to take it easy and ice my shins four times a day for 1o minutes at a time. IF I start back up to running after a few weeks (I'm thinking two since she didn't actually give me a specified time frame) and it still hurts, I'll need an MRI b/c most likely I have stress fractures. SooOOOooo I've been off my feet most of the week. I tried cycling b/c it's no impact, but even that hurt. I'm sad.
This puts my training off for WEEKS. Everyone keeps telling me to forget the marathon and just run the half, but I hate that thought. IDK, we'll see after next week where I'm at and decide from there. Wish me luck!

Arnold has arrived...uh oh!

Today was my long run for the week. It's been a tough weekend b/c we got a new puppy: Lone Star's Runner's Pace aka Arnold. He's a cute little guy, but FULL of energy. I was so beat, I fell asleep at nine on a Saturday night. A little sad for a young couple with no kids. He wore me O-U-T! This is why I was a little nervous about my run today. I thought I would TOTALLY suck wind today, but I didn't do too shabby. I averaged about an 11' 38" pace. I know, I could do better. Next time I will. After Donna and I ran, we snapped pictures of ourselves for our fundraiser letters. In fact, I think I'll change my profile pic right now. G'night all and ROCK-N-ROLL!!!

What just happened?

Our team was scheduled to train this past Wednesday, but New Braunfels was under water! No, I didn't go run that night or tonight. Matt and I are getting ready for Arnold's (our puppy) arrival. Matt cut the grass, cleaned the kennel, picked up ALL the little pieces of anything that can be chewed or eaten. I'm sure we'll discover new "chew toys" once he gets here. I'm scheduled to run on Saturday, but I'll be in Midland so Donna and I are planning on running Sunday morning followed by mani/pedis. I'm so ready to relax! Rock-n-Roll!!!

I woke up this morning at 2:00. I had a horrific dream! It took a while to get back to sleep, but I was able to do it. It's now 7:40 in the morning. I'm gonna get washed up and changed and start my marathon training. My goal for today is a three mile run/walk (mostly run-I hope).

I went to my team in training (dynamite) a few days ago and they passed out our practice jerseys. I can't wait to start group training and have us all show up in our green jerseys. Maybe I'll get some pictures and post them. What a sight that would be, huh? A group of green runners (and I mean that in more than just color - many of us are just starting out).

Until next time...

Tuesday Blues

Usually people have a case of the Mondays. Today I have a case of the Tuesdays. I just feel like I'm under a lot of pressure since we received our state mandated assessment results. There has been a lot of discussion about the types of needs our campus must meet. Before we meet those needs, we must identify them. This has been difficult to say the least. I'd really like to out for a run, but Matt says that I need to take it easy and not run everyday. I guess when my body's more accustomed to hard running it will be easier for me to run more often. I just feel so much better after a run. We'll see.
